Hard Landscaping Your Garden

When you think about your garden in summer you think of luscious green grass, bright blooms and the sun shining. Now we can’t make the sunshine, but we can help you to ensure your garden is looking its best through the summer months with our hard landscaping services. Everywhere you look, bright colourful flowers with a sweet smell. To achieve that, you need to plant the right flowers during the warmer months. There are a few winter plants that you won’t see flowering in the warmer months but generally you’ll see your garden be transformed from dark soil to a bright and beautiful sea of flowers.

In this blog we are going to outline some of the perfect plants for the warmer, sunnier months ahead.

Wisteria

Wisteria is a favourite for many during the warmer months as it looks so elegant in any garden. You will often find it growing on the front of a house, over a pergola or up a wall creating that flower wall look. Wisteria actually doesn’t require much attendance. Pruning round about February and again sometime near August will ensure that it is kept in shape and the stems haven’t grown too long.

Lavender

Not only does lavender look good but it also creates a habitat for bees and butterflies too. With its gorgeous silver foliage, it is very easy to keep tidy and it will only require pruning every now and then. Plus, as an extra you can use it in cooking and dry it and pop it in a summer drink such as a G&T! On average lavender requires 6-8 hours of daily sun exposure and prefers the warmer climate over the cold.

Potentilla

Potentilla are one of the most least demanding shrubs but are very rewarding in the summer weather. They produce lovely saucer shaped single, sometimes double flowers in a range of colour throughout the months. From spring right through to autumn, you will see the potentilla flower time and time again. There are two different types of potentilla: perennial potentillas and the shrubby potentillas. The perennials are perfect for garden borders or near water.

Sweet Peas

Bright and beautiful flowers! Sweet peas are an extremely popular annual flower and can start blooming as early as May. If you deadhead the flowers or they are cut back just before the peak time for sweet peas, you’ll have stunning flowers throughout the summer and into the autumn months.

Begonia

Begonias are the ultimate summer bedding plants and are loved by many for their bright, flamboyant bloom. They are a special type of flower as they can survive and thrive in both the sun and shade. Right up until the first frost hits they will be flowering brightly in your garden. You can plant them in beds, borders, hanging baskets or in window boxes.

Petunia

Petunias are extremely popular for their large trumpet like flowers which are very colourful and have an array or bright patterns such as stripes. Being placed in a hanging basket you will create a spectacular display for all of your guests to look at. These really are the perfect flower for the summer months.
